This refers to how a diamond has been shaped and polished from its raw form. The cut affects the diamond’s symmetry, brightness, fire (the dispersion of light into colors), and how sparkling it appears. The quality of the cut is graded from Excellent to Poor.
Diamonds are graded on their color, which ranges from colorless to light yellow or brown. The grading scale starts at D (colorless) and goes down to Z (light color). Colorless diamonds are the most valuable because they allow the most refraction of light (sparkle).
This measures the cleanliness or purity of a diamond and is determined by the presence of inclusions (internal flaws) and blemishes (external flaws). Clarity grades range from Flawless (no inclusions or blemishes visible under 10x magnification) to Included (inclusions and/or blemishes are obvious under 10x magnification and may affect transparency and brilliance).
This refers to the weight of the diamond, with one carat equaling 200 milligrams. While larger diamonds are more valuable, the value also heavily depends on the diamond’s cut, color, and clarity.
